Although Pressure Treated decks are quickly fading they are still the cheapest option. They require a lot of maintenance and don’t hold up to the elements like they used to. Cedar is another option. Again, requiring a lot of maintenance but a very attractive species of wood which will hold up better, and look nicer than pressure treated.
Hardwoods are your final and best choice for a wood deck. Ipe, Camaru, Tigerwood, and Mahogany are all beautiful options. Ipe, the most popular in our region is the hardest wood on the planet used for building. This wood is expensive, but will last 100 years if maintained properly.

This deck was a real challenge to build because of the inset hot tub and the elevations.
All of the calculations had to be exact to make the transition from patio to deck to hot tub work.
The post placement for the trellis had to be perfect as well.
We then added solid skirting, custom lattice work and L.E.D. lighting for the finishing touches.
